Privacy policy
Last updated 19 October 2026 · applies to PraiseAV for Windows
- PraiseAV has no account, no tracking, no analytics and no adverts.
- Your songs, services, media and settings stay on your computer, or in a folder you choose (OneDrive, Google Drive or a USB stick).
- We (the people who make PraiseAV) don’t receive your songs, services, media or anything you put on screen.
- PraiseAV only uses the internet for the things listed below, and mostly only when you ask it to.
Who we are
PraiseAV is free presentation software for churches, made by OneMadPunk, an independent developer in the United Kingdom. In this policy “we” means OneMadPunk, and “you” means the church or person using PraiseAV.
What PraiseAV keeps on your computer
PraiseAV stores these on the computer it’s installed on. None of it is sent to us.
- Your song library: words, authors, copyright and CCLI numbers, and any chords or backing tracks you add.
- Song usage: which songs were shown, printed or streamed and when, so you can make your CCLI report. It stays on your computer; PraiseAV doesn’t send reports to CCLI or anyone else.
- Services you save, media you add (pictures, videos, music, slides) and settings such as themes, your church’s name and logo, congregation-alert group names and screen setup.
- Backups: a weekly automatic backup of songs, settings and services in your Documents folder (the last 8 are kept), and any backups you make yourself.
- Phone remote: if you use it, the names of the phones and tablets you allow, and a scrambled key for each (the key itself is only on that device).
- Recordings you make with ● Record or while going live: video files in the recordings folder you choose (Documents › PraiseAV Recordings unless you pick another). They’re copied to a USB stick only when you ask.
- Your stream key, if you go live: kept encrypted with Windows’ own protection, and only ever sent to the streaming service you chose (see below).
- Small logs to help fix problems: messages to and from your ATEM video switcher if you connect one, and how a livestream connected (never the stream key).
- Phone cameras and sound timing: the names you give phone cameras, and how much to hold the sound back for each camera.
Congregation alerts are never saved. A child’s number or name you put on screen is only kept while the alert is showing, and is gone once it’s cleared. Only the group names (for example “Crèche”) and the wording are remembered. Alerts are for the people in the room: they’re left out of ◉ Go live and ● Record, and never sent to the network screens or the Livestream screen. (A camera pointed at the screen, or another program recording the whole computer screen, will see them, as the room does.)
You can delete any of this at any time: delete songs, services or media in PraiseAV, or remove PraiseAV and its folders from your computer.
When PraiseAV uses the internet
| What | When | What’s shared |
|---|---|---|
| Checking for updates | Only the version downloaded from praiseav.com, now and then while it’s open. The Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store instead. | A request to praiseav.com for the latest version number. Like any website, the server sees your computer’s internet address and which version is asked for. We don’t use this to identify anyone, and don’t combine it with anything else. |
| Live video from YouTube or Vimeo | Only when you add a YouTube or Vimeo link for live video. | The video is played from YouTube (Google) or Vimeo, which may set cookies and see your internet address, as on their websites. Their privacy policies apply: Google, Vimeo. The same applies to any other web address you choose to show. |
| bible.com | Only when you open “NIV and more from bible.com”. | bible.com opens in its own window, as it would in a browser, and YouVersion’s privacy policy applies. It’s kept separate from the rest of PraiseAV. While that window is open, PraiseAV looks at verses you copy (see “The clipboard” below); it never reads the page itself. |
| SongSelect | Only when you open “From SongSelect”. | SongSelect (songselect.ccli.com) opens in its own window, as it would in a browser, and you sign in there with your church’s own CCLI account. CCLI’s privacy policy applies. Your password is typed into CCLI’s page, never into PraiseAV, and the sign-in is kept on this computer in that window only, separate from the rest of PraiseAV. PraiseAV never reads or clicks anything on the page; when you press SongSelect’s Download, it adds that song to your library. Nothing is sent to us. |
| Going live | Only while you’re livestreaming with ◉ Go live. | What’s on the congregation screen and the sound you chose are sent, with your stream key, to the service you picked (YouTube, Facebook, or another address you enter). That service’s own privacy policy applies: Google (YouTube), Meta (Facebook). Nothing is sent to us. |
| Links that open your browser | When you click one, for example to download LibreOffice. | Your normal web browser opens the page; that website’s own policy applies. |
On your church’s own network only: the phone remote (a page served from the PraiseAV computer to phones on the same Wi-Fi, after you allow each one), phone cameras (a phone’s camera picture sent over the Wi-Fi to the PraiseAV computer), screens on the network (the words or the congregation screen as web pages, only while you have them turned on), and an ATEM video switcher. These don’t go out to the internet, and only answer devices on your local network.
Folders you choose to sync
If you keep services in OneDrive or Google Drive, or save backups there, those files are synced by Microsoft or Google under their own privacy policies, using the account you’re signed in to on that computer. PraiseAV just saves files in the folder you chose; it doesn’t connect to those services itself.
Camera, microphone and screen
If you choose a camera, capture device or phone camera for live video, PraiseAV shows its picture on your screens. If you choose a sound input (such as the sound desk), PraiseAV uses it for recordings and livestreams. The congregation screen is only recorded when you press ● Record (or go live with “Also save a recording” ticked), and only sent anywhere while you’re going live. Windows shows when the camera or microphone is in use.
Background music (Spotify and other music apps)
If you use the music controls in PraiseAV’s top bar, PraiseAV works the music app on the same computer through Windows’ own media controls: play, pause, next, its volume and which speakers it plays through. It reads the song’s title to show it. PraiseAV doesn’t connect to Spotify or sign in to anything; the music app’s own privacy policy applies to the app itself.
The clipboard
When you press “Paste verses”, or while the bible.com window is open, PraiseAV reads what you’ve copied to find Bible verses. This stays on your computer. Nothing on the clipboard is sent anywhere.
The Microsoft Store
If you install PraiseAV from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Depending on your Windows settings, Microsoft may give us anonymous, combined figures such as how many times PraiseAV has been installed and reports of crashes, which help us fix problems. These don’t include your songs, services or anything you put on screen.
Children
PraiseAV is used by churches and isn’t directed at children. It doesn’t collect information from anyone, including children. Congregation alerts are shown on screen and not saved (see above).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights over personal information held about you. Because PraiseAV keeps your information on your own computer and we don’t receive it, we don’t hold personal information about you through the app. If you contact us, we’ll use your message only to reply, and delete it when it’s no longer needed. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this policy
If PraiseAV starts using information differently, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the new version is released. PraiseAV will never start sending your songs, services or media to us without asking you first.
