Screens and livestream

Screens on the network

PraiseAV can show what it shows as a web page on the church’s own network. Two pages:

Page What it shows For
Words for OBS or vMix Just the words (and the song details), on a see-through background Laying the words over the cameras on a livestream
Congregation screen The words, verses, pictures and backgrounds, full screen A TV or computer in another room: an overflow hall, the foyer, the parents’ room

Nothing to install, no extra cables and no licence. Any computer, laptop, tablet or smart TV on the same network can open them.

Congregation alerts never go on these pages. Children’s numbers and notices are for the main room only, so they never reach the stream or the other rooms. The preacher’s notes and prompts don’t go out either.

Turning it on

  1. Click Screens… at the top right.
  2. Scroll down to Show on the network and click Turn on.
  3. The first time, Windows may ask whether to allow PraiseAV on the network. Tick Private networks and click Allow.

PraiseAV shows the addresses to use, with a Copy button next to each. It stays on next time you open PraiseAV, until you click Turn off.

Words in OBS

  1. In Screens… › Show on the network, choose Where the words go (a strip along the bottom, a strip along the top, or full screen) and the Background (see-through is best for OBS).
  2. Click Copy next to the address:
    • OBS or vMix on this computer: when OBS runs on the PraiseAV computer.
    • On another computer: when OBS runs on a different computer.
  3. In OBS, under Sources, click + and choose Browser. Give it a name, such as Words, and click OK.
  4. Paste the address into URL. Set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080. Click OK.
  5. In the Sources list, drag Words above your camera.

The words appear over the camera on a dark band and change the moment you change the slide. Black, Clear text and Logo take them off the stream.

Words in vMix

  1. Copy the address, as for OBS.
  2. In vMix, click Add Input and choose Web Browser.
  3. Paste the address, set the size to 1920 × 1080, and click OK.
  4. Put the input on an Overlay channel over the cameras (click the 1 under the input to show it as Overlay 1).

Other choices in the address

The address can say where the words go and what’s behind them. PraiseAV builds it for you when you choose in the Screens window, but you can also type it:

Add to the address What it does
?place=top A strip along the top
?place=full The words big, in the middle of the screen
?bg=green A green background, for programs that key out green
?bg=black A black background

For example: http://192.168.1.20:8260/words?place=top&bg=green. Without any of them the words are in a strip along the bottom, see-through.

A screen in another room

For an overflow hall, the foyer TV, a parents’ room or a crèche.

  1. In Screens… › Show on the network, find A screen in another room.
  2. On the TV, tablet or laptop in the other room, open the web browser and type the address shown (it ends in /screen). On a tablet you can scan the QR code with the camera instead.
  3. Click or tap the page once to make it full screen.

It shows what the congregation screen shows: the words, verses, pictures, backgrounds and the logo, and goes black when you click Black. Camera pictures (live video) and YouTube videos don’t go to the other room; there it shows the words over the background instead.

The other room has no sound from PraiseAV: run a speaker cable or use the sound desk for that.
