Web pages and YouTube videos
A YouTube video, a Vimeo video or any web page can be an item in the service, like a song or a video. It fills the congregation screen when you put it on.
Add one
- Open the Media tab and click + Web page or YouTube.
- Paste the link:
- a YouTube video:
youtube.com/watch?v=…,youtu.be/…,youtube.com/live/…or a Short; - a Vimeo video;
- any web page, starting
https://.
- a YouTube video:
- Give it a name for the service list if you like (Mission video, Notices page). Without one it's called YouTube video, Vimeo video or the website's name.
- Click Add to service. It goes after the item that's selected, with a Web label.
A YouTube channel or a page of several videos can't be shown: copy the link of the video itself (click Share under the video on YouTube).
Show it
Click its slide, as with anything else. The video or page fills the congregation screen. The On screen picture shows its name rather than a second copy, so the church's internet only plays it once and the sound only comes from one place.
Above the slide are buttons that work on the screen, since nobody can reach the projector:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| ⏯ Play / Pause | Pauses the YouTube or Vimeo video, or carries on. |
| ▲ Up and ▼ Down | A web page: moves it up or down a screenful, for a long page of notices or words. |
| ⏯ Video | A video on a web page: pauses it, or carries on. |
| ⟳ Reload | Loads it again from the start, if it stopped or something went wrong. |
| Open in browser | Opens it in your web browser, to check it before the service. |
Black covers it as it does anything else, and Logo shows your logo instead. Click the slide again to bring it back.
Things to know
- It needs the internet, during the service. Ready for Sunday? checks the connection when the service has a web page or online video in it. For a video you'll show every week, it's safer to download it and add it as an ordinary video under + Add videos, pictures or music (when you have the right to).
- Nothing is shown over a YouTube or Vimeo video. That's YouTube's rule. If a parent alert goes up, the video gets a little smaller to make room for it underneath. Over a web page, alerts show as usual.
- Advertisements: YouTube may show adverts before or during a video. Check it in your browser beforehand, or use a video your church uploaded.
- Pages that need you to sign in show their sign-in page instead, because the screen isn't signed in to anything.
- Copyright: showing a video in church needs the right licence, such as a CCLI Video Licence. Videos you made yourselves are fine.
- Web pages on the church's own network (another computer running a countdown, say) can start
http://. Anything on the internet needshttps://.
